Stay Alert: The Latest Clever Phishing Scam Targeting Businesses

As an IT support business, Adkinsio is always on the lookout for the latest threats to our client's security. Recently, we've come across a particularly devious phishing scam that's targeting businesses. Cybercriminals are using a well-known brand name to trick people into opening an email that appears to be from a widely used e-signature platform. The attached image is loaded with empty svg files that are encoded in an HTML file attachment.

Worryingly, this sneaky tactic is managing to get past a lot of security software and putting businesses at risk. Opening the attachment could lead to malware being installed on your device or network, exposing your data and leaving you vulnerable to a ransomware attack.

At Adkinsio, we've seen a recent wave of HTML attachment attacks on small and medium-sized businesses, and we want to make sure our clients are protected. To avoid falling for this scam, double-check that emails are genuine before opening any attachments and always ask yourself, “am I expecting this email/document?” It's always a good idea to hover over any links before clicking on them. If it looks suspicious, don't click on it.

Another precautionary measure you can take is to block all emails with this type of attachment from your Exchange or Google Workspace admin panel to keep your employees safe. This will prevent them from being exposed to scam emails in the first place.

We understand that it's crucial to stay informed and educated on the latest phishing scams, and that's why we would like to offer our clients a complimentary security assessment. Our team of experts will evaluate your current security measures and provide recommendations on how to keep your business safe.

Don't hesitate to contact us to schedule your security assessment and stay protected against the latest phishing scams. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry!
